Controlled Substances
In order to ensure compliance with Controlled Substance regulations and licenses,
it is important that authorized faculty and research staff, laboratory administrators,
and affected departments understand their responsibilities in connection with obtaining, preparing, handling, and using Controlled Substances.
Due to their potential for abuse, items identified by the United States Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration,
and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health as Controlled Substances are subject to extensive licensing, registration, storage,
security, use, disposal, and inventorying requirements.
Please contact the HIM/NRB EH&S Office at 617-432-2762 or himnrbehs@eheinc.com to obtain your institution’s controlled substance policy,
if applicable, or information regarding controlled substances if your institution does not have their own policy.
